Mr. Walter Arnold Crapps, Jr., age 53, passed away on Sunday, April 25, 2021 in Gulfport, MS.
He was a resident of Pass Christian, and was well known throughout the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
He is preceded in death by his father, Walter Arnold Crapps, Sr.
Those left behind to cherish his wonderful memory include his loving wife, together for 30 years, Susanna Crapps; mother, Dagmar Simpson; three daughters, Katelin, Rachel and Natalie Crapps; and four siblings, Karola Boatman, Patricia Parker (Glen), Vicki Turnage (Edmond) and James Crapps (Janie).
Walter was born in Morton, Mississippi and grew up in the Sandhill area, just outside of the Jackson area. He attended Ole Miss where he earned his Masters Degree in Counseling and Psychology. Walter retired from South Mississippi Regional Center and was currently employed at Gulf Oaks Therapeutic Day School. Walter's infectious and exuberant personality made him a friend to all, larger than life in his limitless ability to love life, friends and family. As often as he could, he spent precious time with his brother and his buddies in the woods, where he grew up hunting whatever was in season, not that it mattered if any hunting actually occurred. If you knew anything about Walter, you knew you didn't want to miss an invite when he was frying fish. Equal to his love of fishing was his ability to create a feast like no other from the spoils of the fishing trip. And of course, you cant fry up a fresh catch without music and friends, new or old, to keep you company. Walter was the party, whether he was home or at one of the many music festivals that were annual events, never to be missed. Along with his wife Susanna, he also loved participating in the Gulf Coast Buddy Sports, specifically Fishing with Buddies.
The family wishes to extend a very special thanks the Memorial Hospital of Gulfport Progressive Care Unit for their exceptional care and support.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 2:00 PM with visitation starting at 1:00 pm at the Long Beach, Harper McCaughan Town Green, 301 Jeff Davis Avenue, Long Beach, MS 39560.
