Walter Michael ""Mike"" Breland passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at the age of 67 at the Veteran's Hospital in Biloxi, MS.
Mike was born in Mobile, AL but lived most of his life on the Gulf Coast; the last seven years in Ocean Springs, MS.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Hazel Breland; his brother, Frank Breland; his sisters, Pat Smith and Peggy Sherman; his Aunt Georgia and Uncle Lloyd Oliver; and many other aunts and uncles.
Mike is survived by Ann, his wife of 33 years; his son, David; and daughter, Linda of Crossroads, WY. Two grandsons, James Killian of Ocean Springs and Andrew Killian of AL; a step-son, Clifford Crane of Ocean Springs, and a step-daughter, Charlene Crane of Kiln; many grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; and a sister, Mary Brown of Ocean Springs.
Mike joined the U.S. Army at 18 years of age and proudly served his country in South Korea and Vietnam. He achieved the rank of sergeant.
Mike was a Christian, baptized at an early age and attended First Baptist Church of Escatawpa all of his young life. He was a gentle and kind person with a great sense of humor. He always wanted the best for his family and loved ones. We all will miss his kindnesses and words of encouragement.
The family wishes to say thank you to the doctors and nurses of Singing River Hospital and the Veterans Hospital for the many kindnesses shown to Mike and his family.
The funeral service will be held at 11:45 a.m. on Friday, February 7, 2014 at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Road, Biloxi, MS. Friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery.
