Wade Forster Atwell

Wade Atwell, age 66, of St. Martin, passed away Saturday, February 11, 2023.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Nathaniel and Cecilia Margret Atwell; and sister, Linda Atwell Ballard.

Wade is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Kathy Atwell; children, David Atwell (Teresa Bolding), Lacy Atwell Philips (Charles), Bill Wilson, Kevin Wilson, Greg Wilson (Laura), and Kathryn Wilson; siblings, Richard Lee Atwell (Mary), Tony Paul Atwell (Ronnie), and James Atwell; and grandchildren, Aaron Atwell, Nathaniel Phillips, Coby Johnson, Gavin Tew, Kaylee Wilson, Marion Buckheister, and Ella Wilson.

Wade was a native of Pensacola, Florida and graduated from Fort Walton Beach High School and then earned an associate degree in technology. He joined the US Air Force upon graduating high school and served for 20 years. After retiring from the Air Force, he started a computerized embroidery business in which he was very successful.

He received many achievements: Small Arms Expert Rifle, NCO Professional Military Education Ribbon, Humanitarian Service Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award, National Defense Service Medal, and Air Force Good Conduct Medal with 5 Oak Leaf Clusters. In addition to the above achievements, he also received the Technical Training Group Instructor of the month in 1981 and Sr Enlisted Instructor of the quarter in 1992.

Wade was an extremely proud Paw Paw who loved spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed cake decorating and was proud to decorate cakes for his family.

Services will be held at Biloxi National Cemetery on February 24, 2023, at 2:30 pm. A Celebration of Life will follow at the VFW in D’Iberville, 4321 Gay Road.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to St. Jude’s, 510 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Riemann Family Funeral Home, 13872 Lemoyne Blvd, in West Jackson County, is serving the family.
