She was born March 10, 1934, in Powhatan, AL and was a resident of the Woolmarket community for the last 35 years. She retired from Keesler AFB, Civil Engineering Squadron, where she served as secretary to the commander, in 1992 after 30 years of dedicated service.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in d'Iberville where she had served as a Eucharistic Minister, and a member of the Altar Society and Bereavement Committee.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Evan and Louise Tachoir Vance, a sister, Ann Barnes, a brother, Daniel Vance, and 2 ex-husbands, Scott Milstead and Billy Childers.
She is survived by her loving husband, Bill, sons, Larry (Helen) Milstead, Kevin (Lori) Milstead, Billy (Kim) Williams, Mark (Tharessa) Williams, Jeffrey (Sarah) Williams, Vicky (Gene) Challenor, Karen (David) Taylor, Tracey (Charles) Gordon, and Wendy (Joseph) Wesley, Sherry (Patrick) Snyder, and Kimberly (Jeffrey) Insalaco, 33 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and numerous other relatives and friends.
Upon retirement, she and Bill traveled all over the United States, from Alaska to Florida, in their camper. It was a wonderful way to see the country around us and they traveled until her health took a turn for the worse. She loved playing cards, dominos, pokeno, and working crossword puzzles with Bill. Dear to her heart was her prayer group where she had been a member for almost 20 years. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to the St. Vincent de Paul Society at Sacred Heart Church, 10446 Lemoyne Blvd., d'Iberville, MS 39540.
Visitation will be on Monday, April 11, 2016, from 10 am to 12 noon at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, d'Iberville. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 noon in the church. Interment will be in White Plains Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Dr. Peterson and his staff and Southern Care Hospice, especially Cindy, Mike, and Debbie, for their care and concern of Mrs. Williams
