Victor John “John” Lassabe, Jr, 51, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones, on Wednesday, June 24, 2026.
Born on March 6, 1975, in Gulfport, Mississippi, John was the beloved son of Victor J. Lassabe, Sr. and Marlene Hollingsworth Lassabe.
John was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and boating. He enjoyed countless adventures with family and friends throughout Mississippi and on occasional trips beyond the state. He possessed many talents, including a remarkable gift for music. A self-taught guitarist, John developed his skills after receiving basic instruction from his father and uncles. Music was a cherished family gift passed down through both his maternal and paternal families, and John took great joy in honing his craft and sharing his talent with others.
John also had a passion for building and flying model airplanes and enjoyed building and racing RC cars. Above all, he treasured any opportunity to spend time with family and friends, especially his children and grandchildren.
John was lifelong resident of Long Beach, MS and a 1993 graduate of Long Beach High School.
Professionally, John had a long and successful career in the heating and air conditioning industry before dedicating several years to general maintenance with both the Long Beach and Harrison County School Districts.
As a child, John attended Sharon Baptist Church in Long Beach and was baptized there as a teenager.
John is survived by his loving parents, Victor J. Lassabe, Sr. and Marlene Hollingsworth Lassabe; his children, Audrey (Julien) Taylor and Jacob Lassabe; his two beautiful grandchildren; his sisters, Leanne (the late Donny) Holliman and Jamye (George) Mitchell; five nieces, three nephews, and one great-nephew; along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends. John was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Victor E. and Pearl Cuevas Lassabe; his maternal grandparents, Marlon and Ivon Ladnier Hollingsworth; and his brother-in-law, Donald “Donny” Holliman.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of St. Joseph Hospice in Gulfport for the exceptional care, compassion, and attention they so generously provided to John and his family during his final days.
We take comfort in knowing he’s reunited with his Savior in Heaven. We are grateful for the memories, music, laughter, and love that John leaves behind. His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know and love him.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, from 9 – 10 am at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 19130 Commission Rd, Long Beach. The funeral service will be at 10 am in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in Conn Cemetery.
