Vic Anthony Gauthreaux, Sr., 70, passed away, July 3, 2026. He was born on March 19, 1956, in Algiers, Louisiana, to Vernard V. Gauthreaux and Doris (Plaisance) Gauthreaux.
Vic is survived by his wife of 47 years, Tamara Gauthreaux; sons, Scott Obago (Tiauna), Lower Brule, SD, Vic Gauthreaux, Jr. (Dionne), Diamondhead, MS, Jeremy Gauthreaux (Jessica), Bay St. Louis, MS; Daughter, Christina Guillory (Dennis), Samson, AL; Brother, Vernard Gauthreaux (Pam), Waveland, MS, Terry Estes (Debbie), New Orleans, LA; Grandchildren, Melaina Thompson, Dayton Obago, Harley Thompson, Adam Durham, Scott Obago, Jr., Joseph Thompson, Vic Gauthreaux III, Sid Gauthreaux, Caden Gauthreaux, Molly Gauthreaux, Derrien Guillory, Sloan Guillory, Kasey Guillory, Tyler Guillory, Emalynn Guillory, Evan Guillory; Great Grandchildren, Malakai Durham, Cleo Durham, Henry Durham, Ember Guillory, Matthew Guillory. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernard Vincent Victor Gauthreaux, Doris Marie (Plaisance) Gauthreaux; Brothers, V.J. Gauthreaux, Tommy Gauthreaux, Gary Estes;
Vic enjoyed old cars, coffee, the casino, and spending time with friends and family. He loved riding slowly through town, especially Algiers and Gretna on the Westbank, with the windows down, enjoying the ride like he had nowhere else he needed to be. Those rides always came with stories from his past time.
Vic had a gift for making people laugh when they needed it most. Using his wit and heart, he could slip in a quick remark at just the right time, easing the tension, bringing humor into a hard situation no matter how difficult it seemed. He had friends everywhere and could get along with anyone. He never needed much to make a connection, just one of his conversation pieces to start a story. Vic could fix anything with the least amount of tools or resources. That was more than a skill; it was part of who he was. He adapted to whatever life threw at him and his family, and he passed that same skill and determination on to everyone around him.
To know Vic meant you felt his passion for people. He will be remembered for his humor, his stories, his ability to make something out of nothing, and the love he gave his family. His laughter, remarks, rides through town and familiar presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
