Veronica Elizabeth Renz Sprinkle of Diamondhead, Mississippi, passed into eternal life on March 16, 2026.
"Roni", a native of New Orleans, LA, moved to the Mississippi Gulf Coast in 1976. She spent her life making the world a brighter and better place-loving, caring for and teaching children in the schools where she served as an educator. Roni began her career as a reading teacher in Arabi, Louisiana and then served the Long Beach School District (Long Beach, Mississippi) as a Title I and sixth grade teacher at Quarles Elementary School, as a counselor at Long Beach High School and as principal of Reeves Elementary School. She made Long Beach her home for 31 years and, after retirement from the Long Beach School District, moved to Diamondhead, MS. She continued in the field of education as a counselor at Holy Trinity Catholic School in Bay St. Louis until 2008.
Roni earned her B.A. in Elementary Education at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette, Master of Education in Guidance and Counseling at Loyola University of New Orleans and M. Ed. certification in School Administration at the University of Southern Mississippi, Gulf Park and William Carey College.
A member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Long Beach for over 25 years, she served her parish teaching religion classes, as commentator/lector, and as an RCIA Team member. She was an active member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church from 2015 until she moved back to Long Beach in 2022. Veronica was a New Life Partner of the Salesian Missions in service to the youth of the world and served as a CASA volunteer in Hancock County, MS.
Roni is survived by her beloved children and grandchildren, the loves of her life, Lauren Hymel (Steven), David Sprinkle (Tawnya); grandchildren, Christian Hymel (Abbie), Veronica Hymel (Chase Frappier), Eli Hymel, Lilly Sprinkle, Ivy Sprinkle, and Collin Laubmeier, as well as her great grandchildren, Della, Thera, Mazie, Irene, James Ray, Francine and Emmett. She is also survived by her sister, Sandra Renz Reeson and brother-in-law, Deacon Curt P. Reeson of Baton Rouge.
Veronica was preceded in death by her brother, Larry Renz, Jr. of Chalmette, LA; father, Lawrence Renz, Sr.; mother, Doris Ritzman Renz of Arabi, LA; Godparents, E. Raymond Ritzmann and Marion Renz Rizzuto; grandparents, John Henry and Veronica Williams Ritzmann, Lillie and Joseph Renz; and her former husband, James E. Sprinkle, Jr.
The family expresses sincere thanks to Robin Hughes Busch and the wonderful staff of Southern Living Assistance, as well as Notre Dame Hospice, which excellently card for Roni in her illness.
Roni's celebration of life will take place on Monday, March 30, 2026, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Long Beach, MS. Visitation will be from 1:00pm - 3:00 pm, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial being celebrated at 3:00pm. A reception will follow in the church community center for friends and family.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
