Velma Chambliss Townsend

She was born on August 28, 1924 in Merigold, MS and was married to James E. Townsend and had two sons, Jimmy and Steve.
A long time resident of Long Beach, she was always seen smiling whether she was working at the A&P/Save A Center, going to church, where she taught the tiny tots, or spending time with her family. She was very generous and always grateful. Velma loved to cook for her family and friends, which she passed down to her son, granddaughters and great grand children. She was the best daughter, sister, aunt, mother, granny, great granny and friend.
She is survived by her son, Stephen Wayne Townsend of Long Beach, MS, her three granddaughters, Wendy (Jeremy) Towns of Gulf Breeze, FL, Cendy and Jennifer Townsend of Long Beach, MS, her seven-great
grandchildren, Halee, Nolan, Sierra, Nigel, Nevaeh, Azaleah and Noah, former daughter-in-law, Tammy, and many other relatives and friends. She is now in heaven with her Mother, Ellen, Father, Henry, husband, James, son, Jimmy, and brothers, Denton and Edward. May she rest in peace.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 21, 2014, from 10 - 11 am at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach. The funeral service will be at 11 am in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Gulf Pines Memorial Gardens. The family would like to ask everyone to pray for all victims of Alzheimers.
