Velma Lucille Sauls of Saucier died on November 15, 2014, at the age of 91. She lived her life for her Savior and her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Leon Sauls.
Her six children survive her, Dimple Sauls Forehand (James, deceased) and George Leon Sauls (Trudy), both of Saucier, MS, C. Vernon Sauls (Scottye), Crystal River, FL, Brenda Bower (Mel), Castle Rock, CO, Pamela Schaar (Jeffrey) of Gulfport, and Amanda Sauls of Saucier, MS.
Mrs. Sauls was involved in her community, her children's schools and activities, politics, and most importantly, her churches and mission work.
She helped establish four churches, supported work in an AIDS orphanage in Kenya called Kings Kid Village, and an outreach in Lima, Peru.
She fostered uncounted numbers of children who came through the Dept. of Human Services, adopting two babies. She received many accolades for her tireless devotion to those in need, including recognition by Pres. George H. W. Bush's Points of Light Program.
She was a substitute teacher many years for Harrison County Schools, and a graduate of two business colleges.
Her most important works were as Sunday School Superintendent and Adult Teacher, leading people to her Savior. Her unending occupation was taking care of her six children, twenty five grandchildren, forty two great-grandchildren and eleven great-great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2014, at 12:00pm at The Living Word Church, Hwy 49 S, Saucier, MS, with a visitation beginning at 11:00am. Burial will follow in Rouse Cemetery.
