Valerie Michaels, age 78 of Ocean Springs, passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2026.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Egbert and Dorothy Colegrove; her husband, Steve Kuljis; her grandson, Richie Di’Nardo; her son-in-law, Jody Tourtelotte and all her siblings.

Valerie is survived by her children, Ann Pacher, Lillian Tourtellotte, James (Gina) Michels, II, and Charles (Lynn) Michels; her stepson, Steve Kulijof; her grandchildren, Victoria, Andrew, Dean, Dylan, Anthony, Alivia, Brianna, Sierra, and Thomas; two great grandchildren, Ryan and Reagan; and numerous other family members and friends.

Born and raised in Rochester, she lovingly raised her four children there before later retiring to Mississippi, where she enjoyed the warm weather. She had a special love for her dogs and cats, who brought her much joy and companionship throughout the years. A devoted member of the Catholic Church, her faith remained a guiding presence throughout her life.

She will be laid to rest with her husband, Steve Kuljis, at Biloxi National Cemetery, 400 Veterans Ave., Biloxi, MS. Date of burial is pending at this time.
