Gulfport resident, Travis Olyn Taylor Jr., age 72, passed away peacefully at home on May 19, 2026. A native of Mississippi, Travis devoted his life to his faith, his family, and serving others as a pastor for more than 40 years. He attended some college and spent decades ministering to countless people with compassion, wisdom, and love. More than anything, he treasured spending time with his family.
Travis was preceded in death by his father Travis Olyn Taylor Sr.; his mother Annie Powell; stepfather Chris Powell; sisters Trudy Crumb and Lynda Sue Ray; brother Charles William Taylor “Billy”; and sister-in-law Cynthia “JoJo” Schafhirt.
He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Celia Taylor; his children April R. Taylor, Travis O. Taylor III “Trey,” and Stefanie M. Taylor; sisters Tracie Burnett and Tammie (BB) Kates; brothers Jimmy(Crystal) Miles, Ricky Miles and Chris (Randi) Powell; brothers-in-law Wendell Crumb and William Schafhirt; grandchildren, Alivia R. Taylor, Cale A. (Teia) Taylor, Emma F. Broome, Rebekah K. Taylor, and Makayla D. Taylor; and his great-grandchild, Cale and Teia’s baby in heaven. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who loved him deeply.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at 10:00 AM at Biloxi National Cemetery.
Travis will be remembered for his unwavering faith, kind heart, dedication to ministry, and the love he shared with everyone who knew him. His legacy of faith and family will continue through all those whose lives he touched.
