Tom McCormick, a kind and humble man devoted to his family, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2025, at the age of 72.
Born in Meridian, Tom was the son of a Methodist preacher and grew up attending schools in various towns across Mississippi. He graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1975. Tom’s life was defined by quiet strength, gentle humor, and a deep love for those around him. He never sought the spotlight, but his steady presence and caring heart touched countless lives. Whether spending time with family, offering a listening ear, or sharing stories, Tom made people feel seen and valued.
He was a devoted husband to his wife, Susan, for nearly 48 years. Together they built a life centered on faith, love, and family. Tom was a proud father to Alan McCormick (Kimsey) of Jackson and Robert McCormick (Shaunna) of Madison. He adored his five grandchildren, Lydia, Hollis, Evelyn, Mac, and Libby McCormick, who lovingly called him “Bo.” Tom is also survived by his sister, Laureen Chandler (Larry) of Gautier.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. M.L. and Tommie Lee McCormick; and his brother, Richard “Dick” McCormick.
