Mr. Tom Byers, age 73, of Biloxi, passed away Wednesday, November 27, 2013. Tom was born in Germany. He lost his father at a young age to the war and then he moved and grew up in the United States with his mother Irma Parker and his younger sister Annalee.
He served in the Air Force Reserves and he spent his life doing what he loved - working on cars. He worked at Ford dealerships and drove Fords but everyone that knew him knew his pride and joy was a 1960 Black Chevrolet Impala known as ""Dad's Toy"" of which he was the original owner. He raced his car as a teen and into adulthood later reverting the car back to the stage that it could be again driven on the road where it was seen every year participating in the Cruisin' the Coast festivities.
Tom lived in Missouri for most of his teens and twenties at which time he moved his family to Mississippi where he has lived for the last 39 years. He retired ten years ago to spend more time with his family especially the last few years with his great-granddaughters who he adored with all his heart: Addison - his ""Princess"" and Korrine - His ""Sunshine"".
He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Chris, and by his parents.
He is survived by family and friends whom he loved: Daughter, Terry Mason (husband Ricky Mason), Son, Richard Byers (longtime girlfriend Angela Kimball), and Sister, Annalee Gerdin (husband Barry Gerdin), Grandson, Jesse Byers, Granddaughter, Michelle Pevey, Great-Granddaughters, Addison Mason and her sister Korrine Pevey. Also by his niece, Missy and her family and nephew, Barry, and his family.
Visitation will be held Sunday, December 1, 2013 at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, MS 39503. Visitation will be from 1:00 o'clock until 2:00 o'clock. Funeral service will be held immediately following visitation in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Woolmarket Cemetery in Biloxi (Woolmarket) on Lorraine Road across from Coalville Methodist Church. Tributes may be offered at www.riemannfamily.com.
