Drake is preceded in death by his birth father, Essa Ard, Jr.; maternal grandfather, Jesse R. Hope; paternal grandfather, Otway Lear; great-grandfather, Essa Ard, Sr.; step-daughter, Theresa ""Duckie"" Girtman; and uncle, Robert Hope.
He leaves behind his wife, Theresa Renner of MS; adopted parents, Daryl and Nancy Carpenter of CA; step-children, Mary I. Girtman-Miller of FL and Benjamin Girtman of AR; birth mother, Mickey Ard of GA; grandmother, Jessie L. Hope of GA; sister, Chirstie Knight of MS; and a nephew, William Brett Knight.
