Thomas Richard Nelson

Thomas R. Nelson, resident of Long Beach for last 39 years, was born 10-7-1933, passed away on 8-21-2015.
He was a beloved husband and father, preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Edmund Nelson and Mrs. Mabel Nelson, and his bride of almost 53 years, Mrs. Barbara Ann Nelson. Tom was born in Aurelius, New York, and served twenty-six years in the Navy, the majority of those years as a SeaBee.
He leaves behind three children, Dawn Nelson, Thomas E Nelson, and Christine Nelson Smith. He has four grandchildren, Thomas A Nelson, Taylor Nelson, Barbara Grace Smith and Samantha Smith, and was lucky enough to meet two great-grandchildren, Riley and Andrew Nelson.
He was a member in the Masonic Lodge, the Knights of Columbus, and St. Thomas Catholic Church. Tom and Barb supported the Humane Society of South Mississippi, so, in lieu of flowers, please make a donation in their name to this organization.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., Sunday, September 6, 2015 at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach. The Graveside Service with military honors will be conducted at 9:00 a.m., Monday, September 7 at Biloxi National Cemetery.
