Thomas Edward DeRocha, age 86, born in New Orleans, Louisiana passed away at his home in Biloxi, MS on December 14, 2015.
Tom began his federal career as a Tabulating Machine Operator on May 27, 1948, with the AAF Weather Service, New Orleans, LA. He was called to active U.S. Navy duty from October 24, 1950 to October 4, 1952. After his discharge, he was employed by the Chrysler Corp. as a Drill Press Operator until December 1953. He served the remainder of his career at Keesler AFB holding the following positions: Tabulating Machine Operator/Supervisor, Tabulation Project Planner, Computer Programmer, Computer Technician, Computer Program Officer, Computer Administration and Supervisory Computer Specialist.
Throughout his life, Tom enjoyed a variety of interests which included chess, photography, bowling, hunting, fishing, leatherwork, and fossil collecting.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond E. and Elsie DeRocha, brother, Raymond E. DeRocha Jr, and son David A. DeRocha.
He is survived by Louella Capdepon DeRocha, daughter and son- in-law Debra D. and John M. Gerych, son and daughter-in-law Daniel A. DeRocha Sr. and Darlene Ladner DeRocha, and sister-in-law Elmyra DeRocha. Tom also leaves behind 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 10:15 a.m. on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, Biloxi, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery.
