Theda Owen Brown

Theda Owen Brown, 88, formerly of Gulfport and Philadelphia MS, passed away peacefully at home on the 25th of November 2015 in Coral Springs, FL after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She was preceded in death by her husbands, JL Owen and James B. Brown, her parents, Althea and John T. McQuirter, her sister, Alberta Fennell and her great granddaughter, Reid Owen.
Theda is survived by her children, Richard Dale (Virginia) Owen, Oxford, MS, Judy Estep (Thomas) Barbernitz, Coral Springs, FL, and John J. (Judy) Owen, Brentwood, CA, and her grandchildren, Michael McCullough Jr., Chase Owen, Emileigh Owen Ellis, and Billy Owen, and her great grandchildren, Anabelle Jordan, Marleigh Ellis, Nola Ellis, Sailor Ellis, Haley Owen, and Grace Owen as well as numerous cousins and nieces.
She became a born-again Christian as a young adult before her children were born and was a member of First Baptist Church of Lizana. She raised her children in church. She was the church treasurer, taught Sunday School, and always studied her Sunday School lessons; even when she was no longer a teacher, she still studied and went to class well prepared. She had a kind and loving heart and was willing to help anyone in need.
Theda was a lifetime member in the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars where she held many offices and was a member of the Eastern Star.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 30, 2015, at 11:15am at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road in Gulfport, where friends may visit from 10:30am until service time. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery at 12:30pm.
