Terry Wesley Roberson

Terry Wesley Roberson, 80, passed away on August 16, 2026.

Born on December 2, 1945, in Houlka, Mississippi, Terry lived a life marked by service, family, hard work, and a deep sense of pride in his country and his Marine Corps.

Terry proudly served six years in the United States Marine Corps, including four years active duty and two years inactive as a Sergeant at Camp Lejeune. During his service, he served as a Drill Sergeant, Troop Handler, and Combat Training instructor.

In 1964 and 1965, Terry was a member of the 8th & I Presidential Honor Guard, serving President Lyndon B. Johnson. In 1966–1967, he served in Vietnam, completing 32 combat missions over 18 months with the 1st Battalion, 3rd Marines. During his service, Terry was awarded two Purple Hearts and a Presidential Unit Citation.

Terry was immensely proud to have been a Marine. He carried the pride, discipline, loyalty, and sense of duty he learned in the Corps throughout the rest of his life. Once a Marine, always a Marine—a belief Terry carried with him until the very end. He was proud of his service, and his family will always be proud to call him their Superman and their Marine.

After leaving the Marine Corps, Terry became a business owner, operating his own truck line, before beginning his career with the Hancock County Sheriff's Department, where he served for 14 years before retiring.

Above all, Terry was a family man and a beloved Pawpaw. He is survived by his loving wife, Rinda Roberson, and his five daughters, Merina (Joey) Hamilton, Teresa Roberson, Shona Ladner, Shelley (Justin) Blake, and Sheree (Larry) Abbott; 17 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and his nephews, Michael Roberson and Josh Roberson.

Terry was preceded in death by his first wife, Marti Roberson; his father, Robert Roberson; his mother, Ruby Roberson; and his brother, Michael Roberson.

Terry's life was one of service—to his country, his community, and his family. He will be deeply missed by the people who loved him, respected him, and had the privilege of knowing him.

His family will carry his memory, his stories, his strength, and the lessons he left behind for generations to come.
