Terrell "Ted" Edward Ducharm, a man of many accomplishments and wide-ranging experiences, passed away on May 29, 2026, in Gulfport, Mississippi. Born on October 8, 1944, in San Francisco, California, Ted lived a life filled with travel, service, and dedication to his community and profession.
Ted was proud of his service as an Airman in the United States Air Force. After his military service, he pursued his education diligently, earning a Bachelor of Science degree from East Tennessee State University, studying at the International Institute De Glion-Hotel Management School, and later obtaining a Master of Liberal Arts from Tulane University.
His career was marked by excellence in hospitality and education. Ted served numerous prestigious hotels as a Clefs D'Or Concierge and Manager, including the Caneel Bay Rockefeller Resort in St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands, the Fairmont Roosevelt Hotel, Inter-Continental Hotel, Hilton Riverside in New Orleans, LA, and the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Washington, DC and New Orleans, LA. Beyond hospitality, he also dedicated himself to teaching Social Studies, French, and English as a Second Language (ESL) at Higgins High School in Jefferson Parish.
Ted had a vibrant passion for travel and culture. He lived in England, France, Switzerland, Mexico, and St. John, VI. His journeys took him across five continents and many countries such as Canada, Sweden, Denmark, Portugal, Spain, Germany, and several Caribbean islands. These experiences enriched his life and broadened his understanding of the world.
Throughout his life, Ted was involved in many organizations that reflected his diverse interests and commitment to community. He was a member of the English Speaking Union, Les Clef's D'OR International Concierge Association, Alliance Francais, The Churchill Society, The New Orleans Historic Association, St Thomas Episcopal Church in Diamondhead, Mississippi, The New Orleans Concierge Association, and the Hancock and Pass Christian Historic Societies. These memberships underscored his love for history, language, and service.
Ted is survived by his loving partner of 25 years, Jack Anderson. He is also remembered by his sister-in-law, Rosita Labauve, and his nephews and nieces: Lance Labauve, Chip Gallo, and Gloria Labauve. Additionally, Ted was cherished by Jack's family which includes Tracy, Lori, Chris, and Barry.
Ted will be remembered for his dedication, kindness, and the rich experiences he shared with those around him. His life was a testament to compassion, learning, and the joy of discovery. He touched many lives through his work and friendships, leaving behind a legacy that will be treasured by all who knew him.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
