Takako "Mickey" Keaton, age 87, passed away on September 2, 2017 in Gulfport, MS.
She was born in Tokyo, Japan in 1929 and survived the horrors of WWII in Tokyo. After the war she was employed by the US Army and worked under General MacArthur as an interpreter. She later moved to the United States and settled in Columbus, GA, where she started her family. She later moved to Gulfport to be close to her son, Douglas during her illness.
She was admired for her gentle loving spirit, her infectious smile, and fun-loving sense of humor. She touched many lives, never met a stranger, and was loved by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Keaton and parents, Masakichi and Iko Mochizuki.
Her survivors include her three sons, Douglas Bradford (Rose) of Gulfport, MS, Joseph Bradford of Columbus, GA, and David Bradford (Terry) of Praireville, LA; one daughter, Angela Helle (Rob) of New York City, NY; 10 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on September 5, 2017 from 5-7 PM at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport. A memorial ceremony will be held at 7 PM in the funeral home chapel. Services will also be held in Columbus, GA at a later date with interment at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus, GA.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Gideons International or the Alzheimer's Research Foundation.
