Sylvia Calcote Stanley

Sylvia Calcote Stanley, 80, of Biloxi passed away on July 7, 2023.  She was born on March 5, 1943 in Lucien, MS to Edward Calcote and Katherine Calcote Buckley, and resided in Biloxi for the last 54 years. 

She is survived by her husband, Thomas Stanley, of 64 years; children Thomas Stanley Jr (Carla) and James Michael Stanley (Kathy); grandchildren Scott Stanley (Greer), Corey Asarisi (Colby) and great grandson Dennis arriving in October 2023. Her siblings were Gene Calcote, Charles Calcote and Katherine Theriot.

Sylvia was part of the first generation of housewives to work to support the family as a respiratory therapist at Biloxi Regional and Garden Park Hospitals. She then served as a long-time medical assistant to Drs. Lake and Black. She enjoyed a long retirement as a homemaker and caring for her husband.

The family would like to thank all the wonderful doctors and nursing at Memorial Hospital Gulfport for their excellent care.

A visitation will be held from 12:00 until 1:30 PM on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 274 Beauvoir Rd in Biloxi. The graveside service will be at VA National Cemetery at 2:30 PM. A reception will follow from 3:00 – 5:00 back at the funeral home reception center.
