Susan Edith Richardson Ross, age 78, formerly of Hattiesburg went home to be with the Lord, Friday, July 18, 2025. She was a graduate of Hattiesburg High School, Class of 1966.
Susan was able to fulfill a lifelong dream of traveling the United States and Canada as an assistant cargo loader and unload-er. She was later employed as a government housekeeper for the Naval Support Activity Base (NSA) in Panama City Beach, Fl. She also served as a faithful caregiver to her companion of many years, Vernon Davies. Susan resided with him in Panama City, Florida, before they both retired to Pascagoula Mississippi.
She is preceded in death by her infant daughter, two brothers, Tommy Richardson, John Marvin Richardson, her sister Nancy Richardson Bush and her longtime companion Vernon Davies. She is survived by her older sister Barbara McNair.
She leaves behind two adult children, Carmen C. Gray, (Boyd) of Ruskin, Florida; Joy Rhodes (Jeff), of Gulfport, Mississippi; 1 grandchild, Alyssa Lauren Taylor, of St. Petersburg, Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life for Susan will be held Saturday, August 2nd, at 10 am, CST, at Family Worship Center, 13166 O’Neal Road, Gulfport, MS, with Pastor David Hodges officiating. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to St. Christopher Truckers Relief Fund, https://truckersfund.org. Family Worship Center will provide a fellowship luncheon following the service. Family and friends are invited to attend.
