Obituary

Stephen Randy Wilks passed away peacefully on June 24, 2026, in Gulfport, Mississippi, leaving behind a legacy defined by dedication, diverse talents, and love for his family. Born on September 12, 1949, in Columbia, Mississippi, Randy’s journey through life was marked by achievement, creativity, and an enduring commitment to those he cherished.

From a young age, Randy distinguished himself both academically and athletically. He was a star student at his high school, excelling both in the classroom and on the field, where he played baseball and ran track. His pursuit of excellence continued at Louisiana State University (LSU), where he graduated with pride and became a devoted fan of his alma mater—a passion he carried throughout his life.

Randy's professional career reflected his strong work ethic and keen mind. He served as an estimator at Ershigs Fabrication, where his precision and reliability were hallmarks of his work. Colleagues and clients alike recognized his attentive approach and unwavering commitment to every project he undertook.

Beyond his career, Randy was a true Renaissance man. Music was an early love in his life; he displayed talent as a guitarist and singer, and it was through music that he met his beloved wife, Sandra, while playing in a band. His artistic interests were broad, and he studied opera for a time at LSU, deepening his appreciation for the arts. In his later years, Randy discovered a passion for painting, particularly landscapes, which allowed him to express his creativity in new and vibrant ways. His hands were also skilled with tools—he took great pleasure in carpentry and woodworking, pursuits that reflected his love of craftsmanship and beauty in everyday life.

Central to Randy's life was his family. He found immense joy in spending time with his loved ones, treasuring every moment shared. He is survived by his devoted wife, Sandra Wilks; daughters, Jessica Long (Joey) and Randi Wilks (Shane Alder); grandchildren, Case Arnold and Luke Arnold; his sister, Janice Roussell (Rocky); his brother, Barry Wilks (Mary). He was preceded in death by his father, Stephen Wilks, and his mother, Coralyn Wilks.

Randy’s journey touched many lives, not only through his accomplishments but through his warmth, generosity, and lively spirit. He will be remembered as a man of remarkable talent, steadfast loyalty, and deep familial love. His absence will be keenly felt, and his memory will endure in the hearts of all who knew him.

There will be a Celebration of Life at the Wilks residence in Gulfport on Sunday, June 28, from 12pm-4pm, with Words of Remembrance at 1pm. Casual attire.
