Stephen proudly served six years in the Army, a commitment that reflected his deep sense of duty and honor. He carried these values into his life post-military, where he found joy in a variety of passions including woodworking, tending to his beloved plants, and his admiration for muscle cars. However, nothing brought him greater happiness than the time spent with his loving wife, Ruth, and their cherished dog, Layla.
Stephen is survived by his wife, Ruth Scott, with whom he shared four wonderful years of marriage. He is also remembered by his son, Phillip Scott, and daughter-in-law Dana of Kaplan, LA; his brother, Charles Scott, and sister-in-law Judy, residing in Kansas City, MO; his grandchildren, Cameron Scott, Ashlyn Scott, and Rylie Thibodeaux, as well as great-grandchildren, Ezekiel Pellissier, Iris Scott, and Wesley Pellissier.
Stephen was preceded in death by his father, James W. Scott, and his mother, Susie Alford Scott, as well as his first wife of 33 years, Catherine Hanks Scott, and brothers, Richard "Tony" Scott and Gerald Scott. Their memories remain integral to the legacy that Stephen built throughout his life.
A celebration of his life will take place on April 18, 2026, at the home of Phillip and Dana Scott, where all who knew and loved him are welcome to honor his memory and share in the joy that he brought to so many. Stephen Walter Scott’s life was one of love, service, and cherished relationships which continues to inspire those he has left behind.
