Stanley R. Calmes, age 88, a resident of Diamondhead, passed away on March 14, 2016.
A native of Dennis Mills, St. Helena Parish, Louisiana, Stan was a veteran of the US Army. He later worked for Republic Finance for over 20 years and was District Supervisor for many of them, before deciding to open his own company in Gulfport, Mr. Money Finance located on 24th Avenue.
He is a past president of the Consumer Finance Group where he served as a past convention chairman, a member of the 32nd Scottish Rite, Joppa Shrine Temple, and a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Diamondhead. He was well known for his happy-go-lucky ways, his kindness, and generosity. We know he has now joined Mamie, the love of his life, in Heaven.
Stan was preceded in death by his wife, Mamie (Rambin) Calmes; his parents, Napolean B. and Jessie Lenore (Chaney) Calmes; siblings, Edmond Calmes, Levy Chaney Calmes, Napolean B. Calmes, Miriam Chutz, and Virginia Phillips.
He leaves behind those whom he was so glad to have in his life; his children, Vaughn Jordan, of Rougon, LA, and Dianne Calmes, of Diamondhead, MS; his grandchildren, Lynsey (Chris) Gwin, Callie (Zachary) Bunter; and his great-grandchildren, Miles Gwin and Kyla Bunter.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at 2:00 PM, with visitation one hour prior, at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Diamondhead, MS. Burial will follow at Live Oak Cemetery.
