Sidney Ray Maddux, age 90, of Long Beach, passed away October 11, 2015. Mr.Maddux graduated from Perkinston Jr. College. He retired from the U. S. Navy as a CTC. He proudly served his country in two wars with the Navy. He then worked for Civil Service with NSA, NUSIC and NAUCOM. He had numerous military and civil service commendations and awards. He loved football games on T.V., strumming a tune on his guitar, good food and bluegrass music. Mr. Maddux was a member of the Paralyzed veterans and supported the Humane Society of South MS. Mr. Maddux was an inspiration to all that knew him and enjoyed life to the fullest with family and friends ... We love you G'Paw.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Murphy M. Maddux and Lucy Eran Johnson Maddux.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Joyce H. Maddux; 4 children, Sidney R. Maddux, Jr., David M. Maddux, Patricia J. Maddux Merson and James R. Merson (adoptive son); grandchildren, Timothy W. Merson, Jr., Toni Lynn Merson Seymour (Shane), and Stephanie Maddux; and his great-grandchildren, Justin Merson, Christian Carew, Dylan Seymour, Jonathan Baker, Natalie Merson and Gaven Merson.
Graveside Service: 1:30pm, Thurs., Oct. 15 at Biloxi National Cemetery. The funeral procession will leave from RIEMANN FAMILY FH, 19130 Commission Rd., Long Beach at 12:40pm.
