Shirley Ann Allen Cuevas

Shirley Ann Allen Cuevas, 77, a life-long resident of Long Beach, went to meet her beloved Savior on August 10, 2015, after a long battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was an active member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Long Beach.
Mrs. Cuevas was an employee of Harrison County Head Start program and Long Beach Public School System. She graduated from Long Beach High School and attended Gulf Coast Community College. Shirley was an outstanding community leader, a loyal friend, a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was full of laughter and enjoyed all the activities of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was devoted to her family and will surely be missed by all who knew her. She leaves behind a wonderful legacy of infectious laughter, love of the Lord and every person she met. She was always the life of the party and brought a smile to everyone she knew.
Mrs. Cuevas was preceded in death by her husband, Elliott Cuevas; her grandson, Brian Elliott Cuevas; her parents, Henry Aaron Allen, Sr., and Alma Bond Allen; three brothers, Henry Aaron Allen Jr., Robert (Bob) Allen (Doris), Gerald (Jerry) Allen Sr. and one sister, Juanita Allen Hammons (Henry).
Survivors are her three children, Donna Elizabeth Cuevas (Sonya Spencer) of Long Beach, Kevin Ray Cuevas (Tracy) of Hattiesburg, and Deanna (DeeDee) (Ronnie) Dartez Sr. of Pass Christian; her eight grandchildren, Matthew Cuevas, Lauren (Robert) Necaise Jr., Rev. Colby (Brittney) Cuevas, Casey Wilberding, Ronnie (Molly) Dartez, Jr., Ashley Dartez, Conner Cuevas, and Cade Cuevas; her four great grandchildren, Addison Wilberding, Ayden Dartez, Harper Cuevas, and Mason Dartez; her siblings, Richard Allen of Diamondhead, Norma Jean Collins and Alice Lewis, both of Long Beach; numerous nephews, nieces, relatives and friends who were her extended families.
The family would like to extend many thanks to Brookdale Assisted Living and Notre Dame Hospice who provided wonderful care for Shirley. Thank you especially to Paul Cook, Lisa Bissett, Jennifer Whitney, Fanta McLemore, Hayden Hoffman, and Terrance Mailho.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 14, 2015, at 11:00am at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Long Beach, where friends may visit two hours prior to the service. Interment will follow at Long Beach City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations to American Cancer Society, 417 Security Square, Gulfport, MS 39507, or to St. Thomas Church in Long Beach, MS or to your favorite charity.
