Sherry Lynn Pierce, 51, of Gulfport and formerly of Laurel, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2016 in Gulfport, after a five year battle with breast cancer.
Sherry was a devoted wife and mother. She is survived by her husband Eddie Pierce; son, Hunter Chancellor; her mother, Nettie K. Smith; her siblings, David Smith, Jeanne Sherman (William), Randy Smith (Janet) and Byron Smith (Mary Lynn); her mother-in-law, Ann K. Pierce; her sister-in-law, Cindi Arnold; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Donnie C. Smith.
Sherry was born June 25, 1964 in Laurel. She graduated from West Jones High School in 1982 and graduated from Jones County Jr. College. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Gulfport.
Sherry was a very active volunteer with the Pink Heart Foundation, and the family request that in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Pink Heart Funds, P.O. Box 1047, Long Beach, MS 39560.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 12th from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Gulfport (12190 Highway 605, Gulfport, MS 39503). The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. at Union Line Cemetery in Soso, MS
