Sheila Stabiler, age 68, passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2013 in Gulfport.
""Sheeda"", as she was known by all who loved her, was born in New Orleans, LA. She then moved to Baton Rouge, LA where she met her husband of 52 years at St. Agnes School in 2nd grade. She explored religious life at Rosaryville convent. After Rosaryville, Sheila married the love of her life, ""Den."" Together they had four children, five grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Sheila will be remembered best for her devout Catholic faith, unmistakable laughter, humility, and deep love for her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Melrose Ducatel; grandmother, Alice Kleindorf; and aunt, Dora Lamouranne.
She is survived by her husband, Dennis Stabiler; birth mother, Jeanette Mogenson; children, Stacey Barrett, Denise Mikesich, James Stabiler, and Jude Stabiler; siblings, Lee Wilkinson and Ellen Richey; grandchildren, Christopher Barrett, Joshua Barrett, Thomas Tompkins, Taylor Mikesich, and Logan Mikesich; and one great grandchild, Andrew Banks Barrett.
Friends are invited to a visitation with the family at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 12290 Depew Rd in Gulfport from 10:30 am to 11:00 am, July 10, 2013. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow the visitation at 11:00 am. Immediately following services at the church an interment service will be held at Live Oak Cemetery in Pass Christian, MS.
In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions may be directed to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation at jdrf.org.
