Sharon McNeil Landry

Sharon McNeil Landry, age 68, born in Bay Springs, MS, and a resident of St. Martin, MS, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2016.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin Luke and Evelyn Williams McNeil.
Sharon is survived by her husband of 51 years, Robert ""Bobby"" Landry Sr. of St. Martin; her children, Robert ""Buddy"" Landry Jr., (Susan) of Gautier, MS, and Kevin Landry of St. Martin, MS; her sister, Avenelle Upton of Bay Springs, MS; her grandchildren, Kimberly Landry and Emma Landry; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Sharon graduated from Biloxi High School and worked for the Saenger Theater as a teen. She was also a former employee of Holley's apparel and was a very active community leader. Her service included working as a Candy Striper at the VA, as an assistant Cub Scout Leader, and former PTA President for St. Martin Elementary. Sharon was very organized and was a ""planner."" Her experience with the Holley's helped her land a position as Assistant Manager and Bookkeeper for Kmart in D'Iberville. She was elected to Jackson County Board of Education in the 1980's, served as Administrative Assistant to the Jackson County Board of Supervisors, and was then elected to the Jackson County Board of Supervisors, District 4 in the 1990's.
Sharon enjoyed traveling and family time. She was a former Senior High School Girl's Sunday School Teacher for the First Baptist Church of Biloxi, where she was a longtime member. Sharon will be remembered as a true community servant.

A visitation for family and friends will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2016, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 13872 Lemoyne Boulevard at the corner of Washington Avenue, Ocean Springs, and the memorial service will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
