Sharon G. Fields Reed, age 60, of Gulfport, Mississippi passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2015 after a courageous battle with inoperable cancer.
Sharon was born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi on November 12, 1954. After graduating from Forrest County Agricultural High School in 1972, she joined the Air Force and served for 20 years as a paralegal specialist and retired as a Tech Sergeant. She worked with the Harrison County Department of Human Services Youth Court while attending Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and graduated with an Associate Degree in Liberal Arts. In 1998, she began working at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport until January 2012. In January 2012, she began working at the Biloxi Veteran's Administration Hospital until February 2015.
She married Adolphus (Al) Reed, Jr. on March 9, 2002; they were married 13 years prior to her passing.
She is survived by her loving husband, Adolphus Reed, Jr.; her sisters Denise Garrett, Patricia Smith, and Tonia Adams of Hattiesburg; stepson William (Kara) Reed of Arlington, Virginia; Step-grand daughter Emerson Reed of Arlington, Virginia; sister-in-laws Vera Reed and Beverly Bowers of St. Louis, Missouri; brother-in-law Jerry Lewis of St. Louis, Missouri; niece and nephews Sharon Denise Carter, Lonnald Carter of Gulfport, Mississippi and Sean Garrett of Fort Worth, Texas; and a host of grand nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bertha L. Luckey and Cornet Trimble; and her niece Danica Garrett.
The family would like to thank the staff of Memorial Hospital Oncology Services, Memorial Rehab Center, and Notre Dame Hospice for the care provided to their loved one.
Visitation will be on Saturday, August 22, 2015 from 12 noon to 1pm with services at 1pm at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, Mississippi. Interment will be held on Monday, August 24, 2015 at 11am at the Biloxi National Cemetery with full military honors.
