Shannon Eugene "Shorty" Favre

Shannon E. Favre passed away Friday, February 21, 2014 at Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans, LA. He was born to Teresa Lynn Favre and Gilbert Eugene Favre in Hampton, VA.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gilbert Favre; grandparents, Merredithe and Jessie Welch and Doris Favre; cousin, Jeff Bennett; and his uncle, Bobby Joe Koonce, Jr.
Shannon is survived by his mother, Teresa Lynn Koonce; step-mother, Sherry Favre; grandfathers, Bobby Joe Koonce, Sr. and Vermon Favre; great-grandmother, Kathleen Koonce; sister, Jaimie Armstrong; brothers, Jason and Spencer Armstrong; brother-in-law, Hampton Reese; sisters, Aimee Diaz, Sommer Cox and Brandy Favre; brothers, Jeffrey Favre and Noah Favre; aunts & uncles, Brenda & Roger Bailey, Debbie Bennett, Wanda & Robert Myers, Janet & Kendall Dedeaux, Tammy Owen, Heather & Rodney Molina, and Donald Koonce. Shannon had many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-aunts and uncles and many best friends. He was very close to his nephew, Isaac James Reese and his beloved cat, Lawrence.
Shannon battled Cystic Fibrosis for 37 years. He always had a smile that could light up the world and a zest for life that was amazing. He was very outgoing and loved spending time with his friends and family. He had a passion for sports, music, and traveling. He loved spending nights playing monopoly and poker. Shannon was raised to be a fighter and he fought a tough battle.
Friends are invited to visit the Favre family on Saturday, March 1 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Michael Memorial Baptist Church, 15053 John Clark Road in Gulfport. The Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the church.
