Sandra Marie Berteau White, lovingly known to her family as "Sissy" and "Mimi," passed away on July 27, 2026, in Gulfport, Mississippi, at the age of 80. A longtime resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Sandra leaves behind a legacy of love, education, faith, and devotion to her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Percy Louis Berteau, Sr. and Vaudie Rawls Berteau.

Sandra is survived by her devoted son, Jimmy Berteau White; her cherished grandchildren, Robert White and Leah White; her brother, Percy Louis Berteau, Jr., and sister-in-law, Robin Berteau; her sister, Connie Berteau Moore, and brother-in-law, Thomas Wayne Moore, Sr. She is also survived by her nephews, Ben Berteau, Thomas Wayne Moore, Jr., and Minor Moore; niece, Alisa Berteau; and many beloved great-nieces and great-nephews, including Trip, Marley, Truett, Livie, Connor, Sidney, Hallie, and others who will forever treasure her memory.

Sandra dedicated her life to education. She earned a master's degree plus thirty additional hours in elementary education and devoted 44 years to teaching kindergarten. Throughout her remarkable career, she was instrumental in developing and implementing the D.A.S.H. science teaching program, positively influencing thousands of students and fellow educators. Her passion for teaching, patience, and dedication left an enduring impact on countless lives.

Outside of her profession, Sandra found her greatest joy in traveling, spending time with her family, and serving her church. She was known for her kind heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering love for those around her. Whether as a teacher, sister, mother, grandmother, or friend, Sandra lived a life marked by compassion, grace, and generosity.

She will be remembered for the countless lives she touched, the wisdom she shared, and the love she gave so freely. Her legacy will continue through the many students she inspired and the family who adored her.

Our "Sissy" and "Mimi" will be mourned, deeply missed, and forever carried in the hearts of her family and friends.
