Sandra Newman Mahoney

Sandra Newman Mahoney, of Biloxi, Mississippi, passed away peacefully, on her 77th birthday, January 2, 2026. Sandra was born in Brookhaven, Mississippi.

She earned her Registered Nursing degree from MGCCC–Jeff Davis and dedicated many years of service as a registered nurse before her retirement. Her career reflected her deep compassion and commitment to caring for others. She was a proud member of the Bon Vivantes, where she held the honor of Queen, and was also a member of the Gulf Coast Carnival Association. Sandra enjoyed taking art classes and found great joy in creativity. In her retirement years, she devoted herself to caring for her grandchildren, a role she cherished deeply. She was a sports enthusiast and especially enjoyed watching her grandsons play ball along with watching her granddaughter cheer for the Biloxi Indians.

Sandra was preceded in death by her father, Archie Newman; and her mother and stepfather, Ruby and Bob Smith.

She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Bobby Mahoney; her children, Stacy Mahoney Schmidt (Gavin, Sr.), Caty Mahoney Hulett (Dean), and Trae Mahoney; her sister, Carol Newman; her sister-in-law, Eileen Mahoney Ezell; her grandchildren, Justin Hulett, Gavin Schmidt, Jr., Natalie Hulett, and Houston Hulett; and her nieces and nephews, Nicole Pitalo Carlisle (Chris), Josh Pitalo (Megan), and Zach Kaletsch (Brandi).

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will take place at Southern Memorial Park.
