Sandra Catherine Eades, of Long Beach, died on Sunday, December 27, 2015. She was born on June 29, 1937, in Carmichael, Mississippi. During her childhood, the family moved near Meridian, and she graduated from Clarkdale High School. She enlisted and served in the United States Navy from July 5, 1955 to August 7, 1957, and was first stationed in Memphis, TN, where she met her husband of fifty years, Walter J. Eades. She established a devoted life of military service, worked at several military installations, and raised a family while he was stationed afar. She continued to serve in United States Civil Service positions in the Gulf Coast area with assignments at several local military installations.
She played piano by ear, loved to spend time with grandchildren, family, and friends, and enjoyed growing remarkable ferns and other plants. She was patriotic and enjoyed Memorial Day celebrations ""Under the Oaks"" in Gulfport as well as Fourth of July events. The Eades' were founding members of the Long Beach Yacht Club.
Sandra's husband of fifty years, is the late Walter J. Eades of Long Beach. She is survived by her daughter Suzanne D'Haillecourt (Barry) of Amory, her son Walter Joe Eades II (Jill) of Gulfport, and daughter Kim Thomas (Steve) of Starkville. Her brother is Rex Buffington (Anne) of Starkville. Grandchildren are Weylin Oliver of Omaha, Nebraska, Hannah and Zachary Eades of Gulfport, and Kayleigh Thomas of Starkville.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to one's favorite charity.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 31, 2015, at 12'Noon at First United Methodist Church in Gulfport, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery, with military honors to be rendered by the United States Navy Honor Guard.
