Samuel McGowan Provine, age 97, and a long-time resident of Gulfport, passed away Saturday, November 12, 2016 at the Biloxi VA.
Mr. Provine was a native of Calhoun, MS. He graduated from Grenada High School and attended Mississippi State University.
Mr. Provine was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps serving as a Sergeant in the European Theatre in World War II. Mr. Provine was a member of Handsboro Baptist Church in Gulfport.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beulah Frances Provine; his son, John McGowan Provine; and his parents.
Survivors include his son, Murray David Provine and his wife, Angela; three grandchildren, Michelle, Francie and David; and ten great-grandchildren, MacKenzie, Chase, Elijah, Amellia, Josiah, Isabeau, Gabriel, Sanson, Brianna and Ian.
Friends are invited to visit with the Provine family on Wednesday, November 16th from 9:00 until 10:15 a.m. at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, MS 39503. The funeral procession will then leave at 10:25 a.m. for the Graveside Service at 11:00 a.m. at Biloxi National Cemetery.
