Dr. Samuel Ray Henry, who was lovingly known as "Brother Ray," entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on December 6, 2024, at the age of 75. Born on October 6, 1949, Ray was a man of unshakable faith, abundant love, and a servant's heart. For over 55 years, Ray dedicated his life to full-time ministry, faithfully proclaiming the love of Christ and leading others to salvation. His passion and gifting was evangelism, leading countless people, from strangers to family members, to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. He served as the beloved pastor of Belvedere Baptist Church in West Palm Beach, FL, for 35 years, where his wisdom, compassion, and unwavering commitment to the Gospel profoundly impacted countless lives. He also served for 35 years in the Palm Beach County jail ministry, sharing the love of Christ with those incarcerated and in need. He was also the Founder of Chaplain Services in the greater West Palm Beach area. Ray's greatest joy was his family.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years Shirley Henry, a brother Eugene Henry, his cherished son, Chris (Suzanne) Henry, three beloved daughters, Faith (Rick) Gamble, Renee (Tommy) Marmo, Michelle (Joel) Oates, 12 treasured grandchildren, and one precious great-grandchild, all of whom brought immense pride and joy in his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Susie Henry, and two brothers, Tommy and David Henry. A service celebrating Ray’s life and legacy will be held at Belvedere Baptist Church on Thursday, December 19, 2024, Visitation-5pm, Service-6pm.
A separate graveside burial will be held in Gulfport, Mississippi on December 23rd @ 10am, at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Gulfport. Though his passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of those who knew him, we rejoice in the assurance that Ray has received his eternal reward and is now worshiping in the presence of his Savior. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Belvedere Baptist Church ministry fund in honor of Ray’s lifelong passion for sharing the Gospel.
Riemann Family Funeral Home, Gulfport, is honored to serve the Henry family.
