Sammie Marshall

Sammie Dell Warden Marshall, age 78, of Gulfport, passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2022.

Sammie was born in Gulfport to Claude Washington Warden, Sr. and Clonie Birdie Blackwell Warden.  She worked for the State of Mississippi as a Child Support Enforcement Officer prior to retirement.  She enjoyed cross stitching in her spare time, and she and Bill hosted nine exchange students over the years.  She was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Gulfport.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Lina Hickman; and a brother, Oliver Warden.

She is survived by her husband, William “Bill” H. Marshall, Jr.; children, William “Billy” Henry Marshall, III and Sean Andre Marshall (Elizabeth); siblings, Claude Washington Warden, Jr., Winston Oscar Warden, Alfred Ronnie Warden, Aubrey Beason Warden, and John Daniel Warden; grandchildren, Samantha Ann Marshall, Lauren Elizabeth Marshall, and Martha Mae Marshall; and her great grandchild, Jeoseph Ray Samaroo.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, in the parish hall, from 12:00 – 1:00 pm, West Taylor Road, Gulfport.  The funeral service will follow in the church sanctuary at 1:00 pm.  Burial will be at Biloxi National Cemetery.
