Sam O Neal

Sam O'Neal, Jr. was born on the 3rd of December 1930, in Charleston, MS, Tallahatchie County. He was 78 years old and a lifelong resident of Gulfport.
Mr. O'Neal served in the U.S. Army, where he was a member of the 31st Infantry Dixie Division, American Legion Post 119, and the First Baptist Church of Lyman. He worked for the Department of Defense, and retired from the 1839th Electrical Engineering Group at Keesler Air Force Base in 1983. He was Vice President of O'Neal Heating and Air, operating the business with his sons, Dale, Sammy, and Richard. He retired from the business in 1997, along with his wife Olevia, who passed away in August of 2000.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Olevia Cuevas-O'Neal; parents, John Samuel and Maggie O'Neal; infant daughter, Patricia Ann O'Neal; two brothers, Gary and Orville Kenneth """"O.K."""" O'Neal; and one sister, Gail O'Neal-Hardison.
Mr. O'Neal is survived by his children, Richard O'Neal, Sammy O'Neal and his wife Mardi, Dale O'Neal and his wife June, and Glenn O'Neal; sisters, Doris Swarnowicz and her husband John of Gulfport, Brenda Lott and her husband Bruce of Marietta, GA, Dianne MacIver and her husband Mike of Mobile, AL; sisters-in-law Sylvia O'Neal and Helen O'Neal; and brother-in-law, Garland Hardison; grandchildren, Shanna, Stephanie, Tiffany, and Joshua O'Neal; great grandchildren, Samuel Keith O'Neal, Olevia O'Neal-Bass, Bryce O'Neal McDaniel, Nathan O'Neal McDaniel, and Levi O'Neal Smith.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 12, 2009, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, MS, where friends may visit with family from 6-9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2009, at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. A procession will follow to Necaise Crossing Cemetery, where Mr. O'Neal will be laid to rest with his wife, and where the United States Army will render military honors.
