Ruth Joy Cook Grady Parker, age 80, passed away Sunday, November 18, 2012.
Joy was a native of Hattiesburg, MS. She graduated from Eatonville High School where she was very popular and was Miss Eatonville High, head cheerleader, and captain of her basketball team. She had been a resident of Long Beach since 1968. She grew up in a large close knit family of 9 children. She was the mother of 6 children and her family was the center of her life. She was loved by everyone and will be deeply missed by all.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Willie Faith Cook; her sisters, Lucile Hulsey and Lois Buckelew; and her brothers, Billy Cook, Henry Cook and Ernest Cook; and by her 1st husband, Gene Grady and her 2nd husband, Mack Parker.
She is survived by her children, Michael Grady (Judy), Karen Courtney (Clif), Jamie O'Grady (Oscar), Rodney Grady, Dawn Ellerman (Paul) and Donna Jean Grady; siblings, Dot Crouch, Wayne Cook and Dawn Hancock; 9 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 21 from 1:00 until the Funeral Service at 3:00 p.m., at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Road in Long Beach. Tributes may be offered at www.riemannfamily.com.
