Ruth Coleman age 98 of Long Beach, Mississippi passed away peacefully at her home on Friday May 11, 2018 with her family at her bedside.
Ruth was born in McShan, Alabama on December 13, 1919 to Felton Huckaby and Essie Huckaby Brett. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harry Coleman; three sisters, Elsie Unger, Mabel Lollar, and Carolyn Murphy; and her brothers, twin brothers, Jack Brett and John Brett, William "Buster" Brett; daughter, Linda Robertson Gaul; and son DW " Bill" Robertson.
She is survived by her son, Ronald "Shorty" Robertson (Janice); daughter-in-law, Sandy Robertson; sister, Lillie Mae Stafford; grandchildren, Denise Gaul Schoettlin, Adam Gaul, Stacey Rishel (Scott), Beth Robertson, and Donnie Robertson (Lesli); five great-grandchildren, Delaney Rishel, Mallorie Rishel, Trent Rishel, Lexi Schoettlin, Shane Schoettlin, and Liam Robertson; and one great-great-grandson, Karson Schoettlin.
Ruth moved to Long Beach over 70 years ago with her husband Harry Coleman. She worked at Godchaux's department store at Edgewater Mall and Brumfields department store in Gulfport before they jointly owned and operated several businesses. They started with vacation cottages and a trailer court, owned and operated service stations in Long Beach and Gulfport and two tire stores in Long Beach. The last business they owned was "The Long Beach Pawn Shop". Harry operated the business and Ruth helped with the accounting.
Ruth always maintained a positive attitude and a good sense of humor. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She was a very stylish person and never ventured out without looking as if she just stepped out of a salon. With her contagious smile and laugh she made everyone around her happy and made them all feel at home. She left instructions for her family to continue her mission here on earth... which has now been completed.
A memorial service will be held on May 19, 2018 at 10am at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach, MS, where family and friends may visit from 9 - 10 am. Burial service will be held following the service at Gulf Pines Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff of SAAD Healthcare, especially Sandy, Stephanie and Vicki, for their care and concern of Mrs. Coleman.
