Rubye McKibben Murks was a resident of Gulfport, MS for the past 58 years. She was born on January 8, 1932, in Bruce, MS, and passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at One Magnolia Place Assisted Living Facility in Gulfport, MS
She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Lee Murks, Jr., her son, Robert Paul Murks; her parents, Claude Mack McKibben and Annie Clyde McKibben; her brothers, James F. McKibben, Glen M. McKibben and Cecil McKibben; and her sisters, Helen Steele, Mary Turner and Annie Cloe Inman.
Ms. Rubye is survived by her sons, Wayne (Kitty) Murks and Michael Murks; her two granddaughters, Jessica Ann Murks and Hayley Raye (Farkhad) Murks-Abdikadirova; a great grandson, Kameron Lee Smith; and a great great granddaughter, Kinsley Ann Smith. She would also like to acknowledge David Williams of San Antonio, TX, a dear family friend for over 60 years.
She was a member of Fernwood Baptist Church in Gulfport and has been for over 50 years. She is a retired bookkeeper, having worked for the Eyes, Ear, Nose and Throat Clinic in Gulfport, MS, as well as Dr. Alan Koskan’s Eye Clinic. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great and great-great grandmother, aunt, sister, daughter and good neighbor. She was a military wife and lived all over the world, including, Alaska, Wyoming, Okinawa, Japan, Texas and her home state of Mississippi. She will be greatly missed by all who have had the pleasure of knowing her.
The family would like to thank the staff of One Magnolia Place and Arden Hospice for the excellent care they provided for our mother.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to St. Jude Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, with visitation beginning in the funeral home chapel at 10am. A burial will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
