Roy Elvin Provorse Sr, 85, a resident of Franklinville, passed away on Wednesday (Jan. 3, 2018) in Biloxi VA Hospital, Biloxi, Miss.
A native of Franklinville, Roy joined the Army and became a combat medic from 1952 to 1955, serving in the Korean War, and received the Good Conduct Medal. He received his high school diploma from Hinsdale Central School, Hinsdale, in 2007. He worked for Motorola in Arcade for many years. He also was an electrician. He was a member of the VFW Post #9487 in Franklinville for many years.
Roy was a loving husband and father, who always put his family first. He was lucky in everything he did, and we will miss him immensely.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Patricia Provorse; his children, Roy (Cathy) Provorse Jr. of Ocean Springs, Miss., Roxanne (John) Linderman of Cuba and Robin (Keith) Close of Chuluota, Fla.; siblings, Chester Provorse Jr. of Stafford, Irma (Jerge) Buchanan and Pudge Simmons, both of Franklinville and Louise of Buffalo; nine grandchildren, Jason Provorse, Julie Cloud, Jesse Rea, Joye Mott, Deanna Flint, Theresa Stangl, Brianne Walburn, Heather Allred and Ryan Close; numerous great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Chester Provorse Sr. and Cora (Coolidge) Provorse; brothers, Alfred, Arthur, Virgil, Johnny, Loyal and Bobbie; sisters, Wilma and Virginia; step-mom, Ruth Provorse; daughter, Twila May (Provorse) Klink.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to the Disabled Veterans, Wounded Warrior Project or VFW in Franklinville.
Riemann Family Funeral Home, 13872 Lemoyne Blvd., West Jackson County, Miss. is serving the family.
Roy will be brought home to Franklinville and laid to rest at a later date.
