Ronald E. Von Seng, known to many simply as "Ron Von," passed away on March 31, 2026, at the age of 86, in Biloxi, Mississippi. Born on July 28, 1939, in East St. Louis, Illinois, Ron lived a full life marked by curiosity, style, and a genuine love for the people around him.
Ron graduated from Collinsville High School in 1957 and went on to earn his degree from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville in 1961. Always a cool cat and a dapper dresser, he carried himself with an easy confidence that drew people in. He never met a stranger, possessed a sharp mind for facts and history, and was always eager to learn something new.
His lifelong passion was golf, a love affair that began in 1954 when the golf coach asked a young Ron to fill a fourth spot in a scramble. From that moment on, he was hooked. He played wherever and whenever he could, dedicating himself to the game with an enthusiasm that never faded.
Ron was a life member of the Amvets organization and showed his heart for community by volunteering for various relief efforts in Biloxi after Hurricane Katrina. He believed in showing up for the people around him.
Ron is survived by his son, Derek Von Seng; his grandchildren, Maxwell and Maggie Von Seng; and his dear friend, Brenda Dixon.
A gathering of friends to celebrate the life of this special man will be held at a future time. Derek will plan the event and share details as they come together.
In Derek's own words: "I would like you all to know that your friend Ron, whenever it came up, was always referencing his friends and associates. He remembered all of you, even up to the end. Please keep his memory with you. In that way, he will always be with us."
May he rest in peace.
Riemann Family Funeral Home, Biloxi, is honored to serve the Von Seng family during this difficult time.
