Ronald Edward McDonald, age 80 of Biloxi, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2026.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gail Maria (Polovich) McDonald of Biloxi, MS; his mother, Tommie Elizabeth (Dew) McDonald of Shreveport, Louisiana; his father, Thomas Edward McDonald of Shreveport, Louisiana and his sister, Helen Carson (McDonald) Richards of Goldsboro, North Carolina.
Ronald is survived by his brother, William Scott McDonald, MD of Miami, Florida; his son, Ronald Edward McDonald, Jr. and his step children, Tiffany (Dennis) Barlow and Brian Trochesset.
Ronald was born and raised in Shreveport, Louisiana, where he graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1963. Following high school, he proudly joined the United States Army, beginning a distinguished military career that spanned more than 20 years. He retired with the rank of Sergeant First Class.
Throughout his years of service, Ronald earned numerous honors and distinctions, including the Good Conduct Medal, Army Service Award, Overseas Service Ribbon, Professional Development Ribbon, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, and National Service Medal. His dedication, commitment, and service to his country were a source of great pride.
Outside of his military career, Ronald enjoyed playing baseball in his younger years and had a lifelong love of stock car racing.
Ronald was deeply loved by his family and friends and will be remembered for the lasting impact he made on the lives of those around him. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Memorial contributions may be made in Ronald’s name to a veteran’s organization of your choice in Biloxi.
Graveside service will be held at 2:30 pm on Friday, September 11, 2026, at Biloxi National Cemetery, 400 Veterans Ave., Biloxi, MS 39531.
