Ronald Burmaster

Ronald Charles Burmaster, age 76 of Pass Christian, passed away on Friday, June 19, 2020.

He was a graduate of Belle Chasse High School and a Veteran of the United States Marine Corp.

Ronald was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ernest and Theresa K. Burmaster, and August and Florence T. Theriot; his parents, Ernest F. Burmaster, Jr. and Anna Mae T. Burmaster; and his sister, Karen L. Burmaster.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Nila Pogue Burmaster; his children, Lisa B. Amason of Midway, GA, Babette B. Allen (Walter) of Slidell, LA, and Madge B. Colegrove (Russell) of Gulfport, MS; his grandchildren, Steven L. Amason of Midway, GA, Shane A. Amason of Midway, GA, Brittanie N. DePew (Ed) of Bay St. Louis, Victoria L. Colegrove of Biloxi, MS, Leslie R. Allen of Slidell, LA, and Katherine E. Allen of Slidell, LA; his lifelong friend, Brandon T. Willis of New Orleans, LA; his siblings, August J. Burmaster (Liz), Sharon B. Landry (James), and Ernest F. Burmaster; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Ronald was employed by Plaquemine’s Parish Commission Council, Amax Nickel, Burmaster and Sons. He retired from Chevron Chemical Co. of Belle Chasse, LA.

Rara was the leader of our pack. He took care of everyone else. He had his familiar look of his collection of Hawaiian Shirts and music blaring from his pockets of many kinds, but always playing. He had his pony tail that he insisted on keeping up with all the granddaughters. His grandchildren adore him and know he is now and will always be their special angel.

He loved beach time with all the family, and vacations, vacations, vacations. Just a few of his favorite things were front porches, bonfires, and drives in his Mustang Convertible.

Last year we celebrated 50 years of marriage. We rode in a New Orleans Orpheus parade, went to Disney, Las Vegas, and took a Caribbean Cruise. Then the world shut down.
