Roger J. Trisotto, 89 died on Thursday, March 21, 2013 in Gulfport, Mississippi surrounded by his family. Funeral Services will be held at St Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Long Beach on Monday, March 25th.
The Family will meet friends on Monday from 8:30 - 9:30AM, followed by Mass at 9:30AM. Following Mass, entombment will take place at The National Cemetery in Biloxi. The family welcomes friends to join them at St. Thomas Parish Life Center after the Services.
Roger Trisotto was born on May 13, 1923 in Samone, Italy. He legally immigrated to the United States at age 4 through Ellis Island. He resided with his parents, uncle and aunt in New Jersey, where at the age of 15 he became an Independent Contractor in the Embroidery Business.
At the age of 20, he was drafted into the US Army - assigned to the 709 Tank Battalion, as a Sherman Tank Driver. The 709 Tank Battalion saw action thoroughout the European Corridor. The most notable battles include The Battle of the Bulge, the Hurtgen Forrest, and he received a Commendation from the Consulat General de France for participation in the Liberation of France and Europe.
He was honored to partipate with his son Ralph Triostto in April 2012 on the Honor Flight from Gulfport to Washington DC, which celebrated the sacrifice and victories of WWII Veterans. He proudly displayed his WWII Veteran Sign in his yard, along with flying the American Flag.
After World War II, he resided with his parents on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. He became a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, and met the love of his life, Lydia Benigno. They were blessed (at times) to have 3 children, and reside in Long Beach for the 61 years of married life.
His first job was with The Daily Herald, from which retired after 37 ½ years.
He is survived by his wife Lydia, daughter Dina Forbes (Tommy) Duluth, GA, sons Roger (Dory) Orlando, FL and Ralph (Kathy) Gulfport, MS. Grandchildren: Roger Trisotto - Kissimee FL, Kristine Forbes Davis - Cumming GA, Alicia Harrison - Gulfport MS, Brandy Stiles - Saucier MS, Jamie Martin - Davenport FL, Daniel and Donald Forestner - Orlando FL, Desiree Gerade - Guflport MS, Natasha Richer - Orlando FL, Keegan Trisotto - Orlando, FL, and 10 Great-Grandchildren.
Roger Trisotto was a Liftetime Member of The Knights of Columbus - Bishop Gunn Council 1583, 4th Degree Member of Assembly 0556, The American Legion Post 0119, Founding Member of the Carnival Association of Long Beach. He served on the St. Thomas Parish Council, Long Beach Police Auxillary Force in the 1950's and 1960's, and enjoyed ""working"" Bingo throughout the years.
For the last several years, many saw Lydia and Roger working together at the Harrison County Tax Collector's Office during Tax Season.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contribuations be made to The Saint Vincent de Paul Society.
