Gulfport

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, Roger W Stuckey, who passed away at the age of 88 on January 12, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Roger was proceeded in death by his parents, William Grady and Mattie Ethel Stuckey; brother, Donald Eugene Stuckey; and sister, Margaret Helms.

Roger is survived by his wife, Nancy Stuckey; children, Mickey Rumsey (Larry), Roger E Stuckey (Darnell), and Kimberly Necaise (Robert); grandchildren, Brandon Stuckey, Matthew Stuckey, Sarah Ladner (Tyler), Haden Rumsey (Camille), Cole Necaise, Wyatt Necaise; great granddaughter, Meadow Ladner; sister, Joann Sheffield; and many members of his extended family.

Roger’s legacy began in Winter Haven, Florida. He joined the Air Force immediately after graduating from Winter Haven High School in 1955. Roger served his country with honor and dedication. He carried the values of service, integrity, and responsibility throughout his life. While stationed at Keesler Air Force Base, he met the love of his life, Nancy Pittman. Together, they created a life of love and family for over 66 years.

Roger was a proud Christian man, strong in faith and committed to helping others. He was a devoted husband, adoring father, and loving grandfather. He was an active member of Nugent United Methodist Church for over 65 years. While supporting the ministry of the church, he served on many committees, attended Sunday school, and was a founding member of the United Methodist Men’s Club. He especially enjoyed the monthly Men’s club breakfast at Cracker Barrel, where he and his friends attempted to solve the world’s problems through fellowship.

After his military service, Roger was a dedicated employee of the Veterans Administration in Gulfport for over 35 years. There, he continued to serve his country by caring for our veterans. During his time at the VA, he was blessed to create lifelong friendships with several special coworkers.

Roger was a voluntary board member of the Gulf Coast Community Federal Credit Union, where he served in many capacities. He was compassionate and honored to work with the leaders and staff of GCCFCU and other board members to improve his community. Through the years, he developed wonderful friendships and had many memorable times with his GCCFCU family. He also was proudly inducted into the Mississippi Credit Union Association, Hall of Fame for his service.

Roger was a loving example of a husband, father, and grandfather. He encouraged his children and grandchildren to never limit their dreams and to always do their best. He was always present for his family and their greatest supporter. He never hesitated to tell his family how much he loved them. For this reason, his amazing legacy of family, faith, and love will continue.

The family wishes to extend their sincerest appreciation to our amazing caregivers-Katrina,Tracy, Gwen, Bianca, and Staci- for their dedication and tender care of our father this past year.
