Roger D. Melton

Roger David Melton, age 77 of Vancleave, passed away Saturday, December 13, 2025.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Gonzales Melton and Shelby Melton; and his siblings, Johnny Melton, Jess S. Melton and Jeffery Melton.

Roger is survived by his children, Joanie (John) Alexander, Cindy (Michael) Chesney, Deanna (John) Tyrone, Roger Melton, Jr., and Amanda (Trey Davis) Shaw; his grandchildren, Britne’ (George) Edwards, Tegen Roman, Kailee Alexander, Alyssa (Cameron) Kelly, Austin (Tyler) Shaw, Alex (Mason) Anthony, Peyton Chesney, Shianne (John Karl) Ford, Autum (Ethan Murphy) Galle’, Trinity Tyrone, and Emily Tyrone; nine great grandchildren; and his siblings, Iris Melton, June Ratcliff, Joey (Helen) Melton and Clyde (Vivian) Melton.

Born in Gulfport, Roger proudly called the Mississippi Gulf Coast his home. After completing his schooling, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he served honorably for six years, including three tours in Vietnam. Following his military service, Roger began a plumbing career that spanned more than 50 years. He was the owner of RDMS Plumbing and was well known along the Coast for his strong work ethic and dedication.

Roger was a devoted father who always put his children before all else and cherished the time he spent with his children and grandchildren. He found joy in simple pleasures, including watching cartoons and movies, especially westerns, playing the guitar, dancing, hunting, fishing and spending time with his beloved cat, Minnie. Roger was deeply religious and a faithful member of the Baptist faith.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, December 19, 2025, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 13872 Lemoyne Blvd., Biloxi, with visitation beginning at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
