Dr. Rodney L. Willer passed away on February 12, 2016, in Gulfport, MS, after a long struggle with bladder cancer.
Dr. Willer, ""Rod"" to his friends and family, was born on November 27, 1948 in Albany, OR, to the late Lt. Col. James E. Willer and Dorothy A. Chilton Willer. His father was an Air Force pilot so his childhood involved frequent moves and living in numerous places including France, Germany, Japan, and six different states. His fondness for the Gulf Coast was formed when his father was stationed at Eglin AFB for 3 years in the late 1950's.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Capt. Lonnie E. Willer, U.S. Army, Ret., of Greenville, NC, and a nephew, Jamie Willer, also of Greenville, NC. His surviving family includes his brother, Col. Clinton W. Willer, U.S. Army, Ret., and family of Spring Hill, TN, a sister, Yvonne Marion Evans and family of Greensboro, NC, and his sister-in-law, Eileen P. Willer and family of Winston-Salem, NC.
A memorial service will held at 1 pm Tuesday, February 16, 2016, at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 9113 Kiln DeLisle Road, Pass Christian.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
